LOUIS XV/XVI TRANSITIONAL ORMOLU-MOUNTED COMMODE

LOUIS XV/XVI TRANSITIONAL ORMOLU-MOUNTED MIXED WOODS COMMODE, H 35 1/2" W 51" D 24 1/2":THE SHAPED BRECHE D’ALEP MARBLE TOP ABOVE A ROSETTE-FILLED GUILLOCHE MOUNTED FRIEZE, ABOVE TWO LONG DRAWERS DECORATED WITH A CENTRAL CARTOUCHE OF INLAID MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND AN URN OF FLOWERS, FLANKED BY LAUREL RING PULLS CENTERING QUARTER-VENEERED PARQUETRY, FRAMED THROUGHOUT WITH OAK-LEAF CAST BORDER, THE SIDES FRAMED SIMILARLY WITH QUARTER-VENEERING, THE ROUNDED ANGLES HEADED BY LION MASKS, RAISED ON CABRIOLE LEGS TERMINATING IN FOLIATE SABOTS. Condition Report: Some of the ormolu frames appears to be detaching from the body of the commode. Normal and expected wear consistent with age and use. Scattered age cracks to veneer. (MK) There is a 27" long, horizontal, crack repair at the top of the marble. At the top left back corner of the marble there is a slightly faded spot approx. 12" long by 8" wide. TW 3-15-18 There is a full length crack repair at one side of the commode. The circa is early 19th century.
