The company was founded in 1922 by industrialist Lucien Rossmann in his urban workshops located on Route de l’Hôpital in Strasbourg-Neudorf. Initially specializing in the mechanical production of boxes and flat cardboard packaging for confectionery, the factory experienced rapid growth, prompting its founder to relocate and expand its production facilities in 1938 to Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines.
This industrial transition marked the large-scale development of corrugated cardboard manufacturing, transforming the small Alsatian family business of the interwar period into a major European packaging group.
HELLA ARNO (1904–2000): Born Hélène SPITZER (later Hélène ARNOLD), this renowned Strasbourg poster artist established herself as early as the 1920s as a pioneer of advertising art.
Bas-Rhin/Grand-Est
The black-and-white photograph depicting Mr. Lucien Rossmann, which is not included in the sale, is an integral part of the description and serves as a useful illustration of the lot.
