LUFTWAFFE DAGGER, SECOND MODEL
Second model Luftwaffe dagger, 10 in. blade, 15 in. overall. The oval pommel depicts a swastika on either side and surrounded by oak leaves. Fitted with orange celluloid-covered wood grips with a wire wrap that remains tightly in place. The cross guard, depicting a left-facing national eagle in flight with oak leaves and a pebbled back, exhibits splendid detail and shows virtually no wear. The nickel-finish blade bears the mark of SMF Solingen, and some oxidation spots throughout with a small chip at the top right. Housed within a pebbled scabbard with an oak leaf pattern at the tip and on the hanger bands, complete with attached hangers and clasps. A very good example.
