4to (11 3/5 x 8 3/4 in.; 290 x 224 mm). Half-title, 24 hand-colored lithographed plates by J. Smit, in-text illustrations throughout; a few stray spots to margins of plates, generally not affecting images. Custom bound (by the Knickerbocker Press) in full green calf, covers ruled and pictorially stamped in gilt, spine with raised bands in six compartments, second and fourth gilt-lettered, all ruled in gilt, top edge gilt, turn-ins ruled in gilt, green cloth endpapers, original cloth tipped in; extremities a bit rubbed, some soiling and scuffing to covers, edges foxed.

First edition, number 440 of 500 copies, signed by the publisher.
