La Maîtrise - Art Deco chandelier Hängelampe

LA MAÎTRISE - MAURICE DUFRENE On offer a very rare french 1925-1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze holding a shade by la Maîtrise. The lamp has a drop of 43 cm (17") and a diameter of 34. 7 cm (13-3/4") . It's in good condition. I have renickeled the fixture. And it comes newly wired. The chandelier holds a European E27 socket. I will rewire the lamp for the US or Japan with a n american standard socket. Between 1920 and 1935 some designers had their own companies and shops. For instance Lalique, Daum, Muller, Süe et Mare, Genet et Michon, Etling, Hunebelle etc. Others worked for these companies. Like Pierre d’Avesn who started at Lalique and later on worked for Daum and verreries des Hanots. But also many of the large department stores in Paris had their own design studios. The store Printemps had its brand Primavera. Bon Marché had Pomone, Le Bucheron had le Sylve and the well known Galleries Lafayette had its brand La Maîtrise. This decorative art workshop was directed by the decorator Maurice Dufrene (1876-1955) . Jacques Adnet nowadays an icon of French modernism as well as his brother Jean Adnet worked for la Maîtrise untill 1928. In 1928 Adnet took over the company Süe & Mare founded in 1919 : La Compagnie Des Arts Français. But thats another story. . Many of these design studios of department stores had their own pavilions at the major design exhibitions. La Maîtrise was represented at the famous 1925 Art Décorative exhibit with interiors designed by Dufrene. Of which by the way the Parisian blacksmith Marcel Vasseur was responsable for the metal work.
