You are bidding on an amazing old french 4/4 violin, labeled "Choisi par Leon Bernardel luthier". The second lable reads "copie de Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1714"

Condition:

Some tears and wears to original golden amber reddish varnish, repaired crack on top (right side, not visible) . New ebony and rosewood set up, new bridge and new strings.

Description:

Good quality medium to high grained spruce was chosen for the top, and the maple of the two pieces back with beautiful grain is softly flamed. Matched sides, neck and scroll. The inlaid purfling is a tasteful work of good craftsmanship, just as the shining, golden amber varnish. The violin is ready to play. The whole length of the violin is 597 mm and the back 355 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 166 mm; middle bouts: 113 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm. Full size.
