Laborde, Alexandre de. Collection des vases grecs de M. le Comte de Lamberg. Paris, Didot ainé, 1824. Half-title, title page, 80 pages. With 1 title vignette and 59 colored, partly hand-colored aquatint plates on 46 leaves (plate numbers 1-50 and supplementary plates 1-9), as well as 13 head and tail vignettes as colored, partly hand-colored aquatint etchings. Large folio. Contemporary green half-leather binding with gilt tooling (corners bumped, edges rubbed).
Blackmer 928; Brunet III, 714; Quérard IV, 343: 'This work deserves special attention because of its fine execution.' An attempt was made to present facsimiles of the vases as far as possible, with all the colors and figures that can be seen on these precious pieces. The Count of Lamberg amassed a remarkable collection of about 500 vases. Wide-rimmed copy. Front inner hinge slightly cracked, text partly slightly foxed, plates (thanks to protective silk sleeves) partly slightly foxed (mostly only on the white margin). Crowned bookplate on a mirror.
