A beautiful and rare pair of celadon lamps branded Gagneau, 25 rue d'Enghien in Paris with watchmaker system (called Carcel system) . Estimated production year: 19th century - First half of the 19th century. Colour: green. Size: Height: 49 cm - Diameter below: 16 cm. Condition: entirely original system, frozen by the wear and tear of time and to be restored. Celadon in very good condition. These 2 lamps are offered without the glass chimneys (Diameter: 52 mm) and the front lids hide the watchmaker’s system. The Gagneau company was founded in Paris in 1800, and became famous for its improvement of the Carcel oil lamp, presented at The Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie Française (Exhibition of Products of French Industry) in 1819 and patented the same year. First established at 25, rue d'Enghien, Paris, it subsequently moved to 115, rue Lafayette, Paris.
