Lantern (2) - Bronze, Gilt brass - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912) 2 Japanese lanterns dating from the Meiji period. late 19th century These lanterns were placed on each side of the altar providing light for reading the sutra or simply used as a night light. hexagonal bronze base which rises on the sides to reform another hexagon on the upper part. Superb details on the sides with floral decoration in bronze and gilded brass, fire-gilded finish. The oxidation of metal floral patterns is visible everywhere. In good overall condition. Beautiful pieces for interior decoration. Authentic quality items.
