This lapis lazuli object is of very good quality and with a bright blue color and a shimmer of pyrite. At 42cm the lapis is a great length and only 3cm thick. So very aesthetic.

Lapis lazulis are among the oldest known gemstones, already valued as a sacred stone in the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mexico and the empires of the East. For example, the Egyptians considered gemstones to be the most precious thing they could give to their dead pharaohs as grave goods. The stone is not only important as jewellery and healing stone – this gemstone also played a special role as a pigment because of its luminous and light-resistant azure blue colour.
