Large 1880s "Martha Washington's Star" Pinwheel Antique Quilt ~NICE EARLY FABRICS!
This VIBRANT cotton 1870's/1880's some fabrics could be earlier) "Martha Washington's Star" quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with solid red corner blocks and nice solid green calico framing and borders. The pattern is also known as "flying cloud" and "Solomon's star."
It measures a generous 88" X 88" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small age spots (see photos) and no wear.
There is quilting around the piecework and in straight line and diamond designs in the background, all at 7 stitches to the inch.
The back is a tiny gray/blue print, the hand stitched binding is an elegant red and black print, and the batting is heavier than usual.
