The Baule sculpture's aesthetics made of finesse, delicacy and refinement is often considered unique in traditional African art.
There are two types of statues
Most represent the spouses of the afterlife, "Blala bla" who represents the spirit-bride and "Blolo Bian", the spirit-husband who respectively illustrate the feminine ideal and the masculine ideal
Physical and intellectual perfection is sought in this representation of the alter-ego of the opposite sex.
The other type of statue is the "Asie Usu", a powerful representation of a spirit of nature who follows his owner as his shadow, bringing him luck and serenity ... The physical perfection of his representation would temper the nature of this spirit that can be hideous and wild
Susan Vogel emphasizes the fact that the two categories of statues are almost identical and therefore extremely difficult to identify outside of their cultural context, so I will not risk it.

Il y a deux types de statues
La plupart représentent les époux de l'au-delà , "Blolo bla" qui représente l"épouse-esprit et "Blolo Bian", le mari-esprit qui illustrent respectivement l'idéal féminin et l'idéal masculin
