Large Blue Decorated Stoneware Crock / Jar

Large hand-thrown stoneware crock decorated with cobalt blue slip floral and foliate motifs. The rounded body features a cream-colored salt-glazed surface with speckled inclusions and bold brushed blue decoration wrapping around the shoulder. The vessel has a wide mouth with a slightly rolled rim and a sturdy rounded form typical of utilitarian storage crocks
This type of stoneware was commonly used in the 19th and early 20th centuries for food storage, pickling, or kitchen use, and today is valued for its rustic decorative appeal. The combination of traditional form and cobalt decoration makes it an attractive example of American country or folk pottery
Measure 9 1/2"in H x 11"in Diameter

Condition: Good overall antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. Surface shows glaze variations, kiln speckling, and minor scuffs typical of stoneware.
