Large Bronze Jockey on a Horse after Isidore Bonheur
Bonheur, after Isidore (French, 1827-1901), Jockey on a Horse, originally designed c.1877, later 19th casting, signed at the bottom, no visible foundry mark, 28 x 30.5 x 7.25 inches, mounted to a green marble base. One of the original castings is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum. The horse, which belonged to Mr. William Astor, was called Ferncliff and was foaled in 1877.
