Large Bronze Menorah- Chanukkiah , Polish 18th century
This large heavy bronze Menorah is a wonderful piece of workmanship and a beautiful example of this style. The backplate is cast and pierced with two elegant peacocks and horned reindeers intertwined with scrolling foliage. The two side plates are pierced with lions, their tails supporting the Shamash (one Shamash missing). Gate with oval intertwined border sits afront the oil holders. Similar pieces can be found in Museums such as The Stieglitz Collection, The Israel Museum, Jerusalem 1987.
