Large Central European Bronze Coiled Bracelet

[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $1200**

Central Europe, Bronze Age, ca. 12th to 8th century BCE. Made from a single flattened bronze wire, this is a large, beautiful bracelet composed of densely coiled spirals. These spirals are decorated with incised lines. The terminals of the bracelet are gently clamped and flattened, giving them the zoomorphic appearance of raised serpent heads. Bracelets of this style are found from the Baltic to the Black Sea, and seem to have originated in the fertile valleys that drain the Carpathians. They are often found in graves and hoards with swords and lugged axes. This example is one of the finest we have seen, beautifully preserved and detailed. Size: 4.25" W x 6" H (10.8 cm x 15.2 cm)

Provenance: private Houston, Texas, USA collection

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.
