Large Chinese Glazed Yellow Vessel

A large decorative ceramic pilgrim flask-style vessel, both faces decorated with a fenghuang confronting a dragon in relief, wisps of cloud in the field, a collar of leaves around the neck, two scrolled handles at the neck. 5.9 kg, 44cm (17 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; before that in the private collection of a Kensington collector; acquired in Austria in 1993; previously in the Trimbacher collection; formerly acquired in Germany in 1980.
