Song Dynasty, 960-1279 AD. A ceramic box comprising of a base and lid with circumferential band of shallow ribs representing a lotus flower, floral and foliate motif to lid; pale blue glaze to interior and exterior of the box. 350 grams, 11.6cm (4 1/2"). Property of a North London gentleman; recovered from a shipwreck from South China Sea, ex 'Treasures of the Sea' Exhibition, Piccadilly, London, UK, April 2003.
