Mary "Molly" Varnum, wife of Joseph Bradley Varnum, veteran of the American Revolution, senator and speaker of the House, to name a few. Molly’s efforts during the American Revolution were honored when the Lowell chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution named their chapter after her. The Molly Varnum DAR Chapter was established on Oct. 30, 1894, by Isabella Greenhalge, wife of Gov. Frederic Greenhalge.
