Saite Period, 26th Dynasty, 664-525 BC. A substantial blue glazed composition shabti fragment with ribbed tripartite wig, false beard, hands crossed on the chest, holding pick and hoe, horizontal band of hieroglyphic text to the waist; mounted on a custom-made stand. 557 grams, 22.5cm including stand (8 3/4"). Property of a Hampstead gentleman; from his family collection formed since the 1970s.
