Roman, Imperial Period, probably from the Danubian provinces, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A t-shaped 70% silver fibula, very large and elegant with a coiled, spring-shaped upper bar that forms the upper part of the pin, and a thick, gently curving vertical bar, its surface studded with thick silver globules. The terminal flares outward into three points and ends in a bobble-shaped finial. A thick pin fits into a folded clasp on the back. Size: 4.75" W x 1.8" H (12.1 cm x 4.6 cm); 71.9 grams
