Large Etruscan or Roman Bronze Bowl with Ring-and-Dot

2nd century BC-2nd century AD. A sheet-bronze bowl with squat, D-section wall and undulating rim, the internal base decorated with a star composed of repeated ring-and-dot motifs, clusters of the same between the arms of the star, including groups within roundels. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 21.88.127, for a bowl with similar profile. 521 grams, 25cm (10"). Property of an Essex gentleman; acquired on the UK art market; previously from an old English collection formed in the 1980s.
