Large French Sevres Style Hand Painted Porcelain Jewelry Box
An impressive 19th century French Sevres style cobalt blue (bleu de roi) porcelain hinged trinket or jewelry box. The hinged cover is centered with a fine hand painted oval medallion depicting a maiden reclining in a floral landscape with a winged cupid, bearing an illegible artist signature to the lower right. The scene is enclosed within rich, raised gilt scrollwork, foliate motifs, and dotted tooling. The serpentine, lobed body features multiple hand-painted polychrome floral reserves framed by gilt lattice and scroll borders. The interior is finished in a smooth white glaze, secured by a gilded brass rim and hinge mechanism with a push-clasp. Underside displays a blue painted pseudo Sevres double S mark.
Measure 6"in H x 10"in W x 7"in D
Condition: Overall very good antique condition. Porcelain body is free of chips, cracks, or structural repairs. The central hand painted lid reserve exhibits fine, age appropriate surface craquelure under glaze. Heavy gilt tooling remains bright with light wear along outer edges. Gilded brass mount, hinge, and clasp function properly. Interior remains clean and intact.
