Large Herrengrunder double cup, 18th century, embossed copper, gilded on the inside, partially gilded on the outside, 2 barrel-shaped cups designed to nest inside one another, walls stamped with a snakeskin pattern, gilded barrel hoops, bases engraved with the inscription “I was once hard iron, A water, bright and clear, Turns me in a few short hours, Into copper in Herrengrundt” and “Mars will soon turn to Venus, As Herrengrundt teaches us,” respectively; rim of each cup engraved once with a floral ornament within a square, worn, D. 8.7 / 8.9 cm, H. 6.5 cm each, H. when nested approx. 12.4 cm
