Large Italian Mahogany Savonarola Chair

Italian style, early 20th century. A Dante / Savonarola style chair with an "X" stretcher, brass finial accents and upholstered back and seat covers. Approx. h. 58.25", w. 28.75", d. 23.25". Provenance: From Chinqua Penn Plantation, the home of Thomas Jefferson Penn, Reidsville, N.C.
Condition Report: Wear commensurate with age and use. Possible repair to right arm at upper joint, visible but stable crack. Minor chips and dents to legs and feet. Fabric has wear and some loss to silk. Oxidation to thread on shield and crest. Loss to thread hold bottom of crest together.
