Large Manner of George Armfield O/C Genre Painting, Hunting Dogs
Large unsigned English School oil on canvas painting in the manner of George (Smith) Armfield (United Kingdom, 1808-1893) depicting a barn scene with six dogs clustered excitedly around a small rodent. They are surrounded by hay piles, barrels, a small makeshift table with stoneware and garlic bulbs, and an open window. Housed in an ebonized wooden frame with gilt sight edge. Sight: 30" H x 49 3/4" W. Framed: 37 3/4" H x 57 3/4" W. Late 19th century.

Condition Report: Five old patches evident en verso, largest measuring 4 1/2" x 5", with two corresponding areas of retouching to lower center portion, largest measuring approximately 4" x 4". Minor scattered dampstaining en verso. Frame with slight scattered losses to ebonized finish.
