Large Michoacan Pottery Standing Pretty Lady

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Protoclassic Period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery female figure known as a 'pretty lady' based on her charming feminine form. The figure presents with a nude lower body, a portly abdomen, and a chest adorned with an incised vestment. Her raised head exhibits ovoid eyes with double pupils, discoid earspools with radiating impressions, parted lips, and an elaborate, tiered headdress. Faint remains of orange-red pigment are visible within some recessed areas and nicely accentuate her overall form. Size: 2.6" W x 5.8" H (6.6 cm x 14.7 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
