Large Visigoth Bronze Fibula / Brooch
Southwestern Europe / Iberian Peninsula, Spain or Portugal, Visigoths, ca. 5th to 6th century CE. A finely cast leaded-bronze bow fibula boasting a gorgeous green and brown patina. The brooch possesses a hemispheric upper finial with a petite bulb-like form at the top center, an elegant arched mid-section, and a longer lower section with a broad upper end that gently tapers to pointed tip. One of the most classic pieces of ornamentation from this culture. Size: 5"" L x 1.56"" W (12.7 cm x 4 cm)
