Large Wild African Lion on Prowl Bronze Sculpture by Barye - 14" x 22"
The regal lion in all his majesty, walks up a cliff in the golden glow of a setting sun, overseeing the expansiveness of his kingdom. The plains winds tangles the fur of his mane as he stares out at the infinite layers of life bustling before him. Other than a symbol for strength, other symbolic attributes of the lion include courage, power, royalty, dignity, authority, dominion, justice, wisdom and ferocity. The handmade bronze sculpture was cast using the early method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for conservation. It is mounted upon a black marble base and bears the artist Barye`s signature.
