Large and fine Sphinx candelabrum- Bronze - First half 19th century

A large, heavy and finely cast gilt bronze candlestick with six branches, standing circa 52cm tall and weighing 8. 16Kg, the winged female sphinx with human head standing on a square, black hardstone base on four cast bronze feet, each candle sconce set on a scrolling, leafy vine with fruits. Fine work, France, early 19th century. Condition: Some small damages to the branches, not affecting overall stability. Small chip to the stone under the front feet of the sphinx. Generally in a fine condition. This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
