Large table centerpiece, pie plate - .800 silver - Alexander Sturm - Austria - First half 20th century

A beautiful, very well-preserved table centrepiece from Vienna, Austria, by the silversmith Alexander Sturm. C. 1925. Sturm was born on 6th May, 1851, in Vienna, he probably studied silver smithery with Moritz Felbert. There is a reference from the apprentice’s employer Felberts an Sturm. The young silver-worker may later have gone to Thomas Dub, a renowned silver smith based in Zieglergasse. In 1882, Sturm obtained his business licence to manufacture silverware. He married the daughter of Thomas Dub and named his silverware business, which he opened in Burggasse 85 in 1883, Alexander Sturm, Dub´s Eidam (son-in-law) . A beautiful piece for collectors. . . ! ! !
