Larimar Box Stone Source: Dominican Republic Artist: Konstantin Libman This idyllic decorative box features book-matched sections of rare Larimar. This material is only found in one location in the Caribbean and displays the most beautiful sky-blue hue. This mesmerizing stone is popular in lapidary applications for obvious reasons. The material has been cut and polished to fit perfectly as the lid to this functional box. The box itself is made of a variety of black Basalt known as Diabase (Dolerite). Diabase contains bits of glass known as Tachylite which gives the stone an iridescent appearance. The box is topped off with Gold-plated brass fittings, a Spanish Cedar wood lining and an artist mark "0464" on the bottom. This box is in excellent condition and accompanied by a wooden outer box. Overall Measurements: 5.43 x 3.23 x 1.89 inches (13.80 x 8.20 x 4.80 cm) [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
