Late 16th C. Thai Bronze Buddha Torso
**First Time At Auction**
Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ayutthaya period, ca. late 16th to 17th century CE. A cast-bronze bust of Buddha with a slender torso and gently bent arms draped to his sides. His peaceful visage is composed of almond-shaped eyes beneath thick, arching brows, a broad nose, full lips, smooth cheeks, and tall ears with drooping lobes, all beneath a simple cap and a conical ushnisha. Layers of brown and green patina cover the composition. Size: 1.4" W x 3.25" H (3.6 cm x 8.3 cm); 4.4" H (11.2 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Healy collection, Studio City, California, USA, acquired over the last twenty years

Condition Report: This is a fragment of a larger bronze figure. Losses to lower body and forearms as shown. Small area of repair to lower periphery of back with light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor abrasions and encrustations to body and head, and light softening to some finer details. Great earthen deposits and patina throughout.
