Late-18th century Ramsden brass library telescope with rack and pinion focusing, marked ''Ramsden, London'' on barrel, with celestial and terrestrial eye pieces, set on a tripod base, in wood case with ''Hon. W.J. Napier, Royal Navy'' inscribed plaque. Note: William John Napier was a Lieutenant who served on the vessels Kent, Sparrowhawk, Goshawk Sloop, Erne Sloop, and Diamond, 1809-1824.
