Late 19th C. American Wooden Crib

North America, United States, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful baby crib, hand-carved from hard wood of a coffee-brown hue, with a pair of curved feet that allow the crib to be rocked back and forth. The four-post design has short top and bottom walls, long lateral walls, integral faceted bulbs atop each post, and a paddle-shaped head ornament with flared corners. The base is composed of five horizontal slats, and each component is secured to their neighboring pieces with textured steel nails. Size: 39.25" L x 24" W x 23" H (99.7 cm x 61 cm x 58.4 cm).
