Late 19th C. Chinese Brass Opium Pipe

**First Time At Auction**

East Asia, China, ca. late 19th century CE. A hand-built brass opium pipe with a removable stem and receptacle, a pick and tweezers attached via a slender chain, and a cylindrical opium container with a hinged lid. Each side of the body is engraved with a bird fluttering amongst broad foliate motifs, and the bottom displays three faint stamps. Size (w/ stem): 3.25" L x 1.375" W x 10.3" H (8.3 cm x 3.5 cm x 26.2 cm)

Condition Report: All components are removable. Minor abrasions to pipe stem, body, and receptacle, with slight bending to overall forms of tweezers and pick, and minor softening to some engraved details, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout. Opium pipe has not been tested for functionality.
