Late 19th / Early 20th Century Cello Stool / Musician's Chair
An unusual and characterful late 19th / early 20th century cello stool or musician's chair, specifically designed with an elevated seating position and low back to allow freedom of movement whilst playing.
The wooden frame features a distinctive turned horizontal back rail, tall slender legs and elegant X-form stretchers meeting at a decorative circular turned central boss. The shallow upholstered seat retains an old patterned textile covering, now heavily distressed, adding to the wonderfully time-worn appearance of the piece.
A fascinating survivor from the world of period musical furniture and an appealing restoration project, particularly suitable for a musician, collector or period interior.
Dimensions: Approx. 67 cm high x 40 cm wide x 40 cm deep.
Condition: Used, with considerable age-related wear, marks, rubbing and patination to the wooden frame. The upholstery is heavily worn, torn and frayed with areas of loss and exposed underlying webbing. Restoration/reupholstery required.
