Description: American Late Classical mahogany sofa with a broad, undulating crest rail rising to a rounded central tablet above a long upholstered back. The molded mahogany frame continues around generously outscrolled arms and a gently curved seat rail. Figured veneer provides the principal ornament, setting off the deep blue upholstery and narrow decorative trim. Short turned legs with casters support the frame. Its restrained woodwork and flowing outline distinguish this sofa from the more heavily carved examples of the same period.
