Late Roman / Byzantine Bronze Rooster Weight

Late Roman/Early Byzantine, ca. 400 to 600 CE. A bronze weight in the form of a rooster, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) technique. The rooster stands at attention with nicely delineated features and feather patterns. It weighs 20.7 grams. A wonderful example that has developed a deep green patina over the centuries. Size: 1" W x 1.35" H (2.5 cm x 3.4 cm)
