Late Roman Gold Bracelet with Hercules Knot

3rd-4th century AD. A hollow-formed gold bracelet with round-section shank, applied wire collar to the shank and terminals, inset garnet cabochon to each terminal; the locking mechanism formed from hinged faux Hercules knot with large central garnet cabochon, applied wire collar to each end. 23.40 grams, 73mm (3"). Property of a European businessman; from his private Belgian collection formed in the 1990s; previously in a North American collection formed in Illinois in the 1980s. [No Reserve]
