Laudin enamel cup from Limoges a
Laudin enamel cup from Limoges and small mother-of-pearl box. Cup likely by Jacques Laudin, France, ca. 1700, copper with polychrome enamel painting. Slightly conical shape with flared foot ring. Polychrome enamel decoration on a black background. Two oval cartouches featuring mythological scenes and cherubs, one bearing the text “Peu s’echape de la Moisson.” Inscribed on the underside with “Laudin aux faulxbourg De Manigne à Limoges.” Interior of the body is light blue, with small cracks here. The rim of the cup is partially restored at the top. Diameter at top: 8 cm. Height: 9 cm. Also included is a small papier-mâché box with a hinged lid; the sides are inlaid with mother-of-pearl on all sides, France, 19th century, engraved decoration. Small mirror inside. 3 loose mother-of-pearl elements included. Approx. 5 x 4 x 2 cm
