Le Corbusier - Cassina - Sofa (1) - LC2
The Sofas LC2 as well as the armchair belong to the avant-garde furniture of Bauhaus age that Le Corbusier designed with the designer Charlotte Perriand and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret for the 1927 Paris Salon. The LC2 sofa 2-seater consists of box-shaped cushions held in shape by a tubular steel frame. The sides are square, seat and backrest are rectangular, so that a cube results. The frame of this classic consists of an elaborately curved, chromed tubular steel frame. The leather cushions are filled with polyurethane foam and dacron wadding. The seat of the LC2 was additionally filled with down feathers for optimal comfort. The serial and type number are under the lefthand bar (see fotograph) , the cassina sticker has regretably faded overtime.
