[ translate ]

Property from the Collection of Ber van der Molen
Kees van Dongen
1877 - 1968
Le Peignoir rose

signed V.D. (lower left); signed Kees van Dongen and titled on the stretcher
oil on canvas
34.8 by 55.6cm., 13¾ by 21⅞in.
Framed: 59 by 79.8cm., 23¼ by 31⅜in.
Painted in 1905.

This work will be included in the forthcoming van Dongen Digital Catalogue Raisonné, currently being prepared under the sponsorship of the Wildenstein Plattner Institute, Inc.

Condition Report:
The canvas is supported with a loose dust-lining and the edges are taped. Inspection under UV light reveals some intermittent spots and lines of retouching along the extreme lower edge and some other scattered small spots to the upper half of the composition, including one just above the figure's feet, which relates to a paint loss. There are some gold accretions and small paint losses to parts of the extreme edges. There are some fine lines of craquelure in some of the thicker pigments and some light surface dirt throughout. There is a lovely rich impasto surface to the figure's dress. This work is in overall good condition.

Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.
