[ translate ]

Property from the Collection of Ber van der Molen
Auguste Herbin
1882 - 1960
Le Pont de Bois

signed herbin (lower right)
oil on canvas
65 by 53.8cm., 25⅝ by 21⅛in.
Framed: 89.5 by 79.5cm., 35¼ by 31¼in.
Painted in 1906.

Condition Report:
The canvas is lined. UV inspection reveals a spot of retouching at the centre of the lower right quadrant. There is an artist's pinhole to each of the four corners. There is some wear and tiny losses to parts of the extreme edges, and a few paint losses to the thicker pigments within the composition. There is an intermittent indentation to parts of the right edge, which probably occurred when the paint was still wet. There are some fine lines of craquelure in places and some very minor paint shrinkage, mainly to the blue pigments. This work is in overall good condition.

Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.

Provenance:
Private Collection, USA (sold: Sotheby’s, New York, 18th February 1988, lot 88)
Private Collection, Paris (purchased at the above sale)
Kunsthandel Wim de Boer, Alkmaar
Acquired from the above by the present owner
