Leaf from a Gradual, with large initial ‘A’, in Latin, illuminated manuscript on vellum, [Italy, late fifteenth century], single large leaf, with a large initial ‘A’ in blue, enclosing sprays of stylised green and orange acanthus leaf foliage in its compartments, the whole initial on burnished gold grounds and with further coloured acanthus leaf sprays in margin, one line of red and blue capitals with contrasting penwork, one-line initials in same, red rubrics, 7 lines of text with music on accompanying 4-line red staves, some losses to gold and paint in places, small smudges, spots, stains and discoloured areas, else fair condition, c.355 x 270 mm.
