Leather Shadow Puppet - Inda
Leather shadow puppet representing Lord Shiva riding his vahana (mount), Nandi the bull. Framed. 24" x 31" (w/frame). This piece belongs to the traditional shadow puppetry styles of Southern India, most likely Togalu Gombeyatta from Karnataka or Tholu Bommalata from Andhra Pradesh. These puppets are crafted from translucent, intricately perforated goatskin or deer hide and painted with brilliant, vegetable-dyed colors.
