wrought iron with silk
with the Coat of Arms of Queen Isabella I of Castile (1451 - 1504)
height: 89 1/2 in.; 226.7 cm.
Condition Report:
The velvet has rubbed off on all but a few small patches. The remaining fabric is brittle and quite fragile with multiple tears, especially along the edges. The iron has standard rust and is covered with dust. There is a hole on the proper right side of the central wreath, and a small tear in the iron on the proper left wing of the eagle. The reverse is covered with spots of rust, and there is a long strip of rust down the center of the reverse where the top of the lectern attaches to the stand. The numbers 553 05 are inscribed on the bottom of the reverse in yellow chalk. The stand has rust throughout, especially in the middle where the overpaint is flaking. The piece is stable overall.
