Very beautiful work by the well-known Antwerp artist Leo Jordaens.
Internal dimensions 43 x 38 cm.
With wooden frame.

Leo Jordaens embodied the artist stereotype: changeable, temperamental and not completely socially adapted or docile. He had very productive periods, during which he exhibited twice a year (this was around 1978, when he lived at the Bosuil in Deurne) , but apparently he could not quite cope with that regularity and the pressure of having his own business. With a minimum of resources - a palette knife, oil paint and a panel - he managed to create beautiful compositions that were based on existing scenes, but only vaguely recognizable in the end result.
