Léon Victor Dupré (1816-1879) - Nascita di Venere

[ translate ]

\Artist: Léon Victor Dupré (1816-1879)
Technique: Tempera miniature on ivory\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 12. 8_15_2_cm
Léon Victor DUPRÉ (1816-1879) , Birth of Venus, miniature in tempera on ivory, size 6. 5 x 8. 5 cm, signed lower right. The work is a very high quality reinterpretation of the famous painting "The Birth of Venus" by Alexandre Cabanel (1823 - 1889) painted in 1863 and now kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Léon Victor Dupré dominates the miniature technique with extraordinary skill and the use of the ivory support masterfully renders the porcelain effect that Cabanel already sought for his painting which Dupré was inspired by. The use of reproducing highly popular contemporary paintings with the technique of miniature is widely attested to at the time and represents an interesting trend in the history of art of the full nineteenth century. Dupré was an appreciated landscape painter, but it is precisely in the miniature that he reaches the highest qualitative peaks of his artistic career. Today his miniatures are rare and sought after, much more so than the landscapes that are more frequently found on the market. The work has a slight superficial abrasion in the right portion which affects about a quarter of the miniature, as shown in the photograph. Work with Certificate of Authenticity and Legitimate Origin. It is shipped by express courier 24/48 hours with INSURANCE on the value. ATTENTION: AS IT IS A WORK ON IVORY, IT CAN ONLY BE SOLD IN ITALY AND THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY. For shipping outside Italy, it is also necessary to wait for the release of the Fine Arts documents, with a wait of about 20 days. Purchasers are reminded to provide their TAX CODE for issuing the electronic invoice.
