Dimensions with frame: 57 x 73 cm Painting in perfect condition. Sold with invoice and certificate of authenticity. Fast and neat shipment with insurance. Leonard BORDES (1898-1969) Intimately close to Rouen, which inspired him with unforgettable paintings, Léonard BORDES constantly showed his instinctive sensitivity there in rich and moving works, an indisputable mark of his talent which made him one of the most remarkable and productive painters of the Rouen School. . Born into a family of musicians, himself a cellist at the Théâtre des Arts, faithful to the teaching of the Masters of the Regional School of Fine Arts, Léonard BORDES, by combining his two passions, was able to understand and translate regional poetry, that of the Norman terroir and its metropolis from which emerged simple and sincere canvases, melancholic or anecdotal, but always constructed in quickly posed masses, and punctuated by these gnarled trees, the uncertain sky, and whose poignant suggestion sometimes joined some vibrant dead natures. Never Léonard BORDES denatured the picturesque of his testimony of a constant humanity, whose love of art agreed with some friendships, such those of Gaston SEBIRE whom he accompanied in Spain, or Tony FRITZ-VILARS whose pen knew so perfectly how to define the personality and the destiny of this artist always infinitely dear to the hearts of Rouennais.
